At 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 19, 2022, the first anniversary of Ina’s death, her family and friends will observe two minutes of silence in her memory. Anyone who wishes to join us in this moment may click the video at that time to share the experience. For those who loved her, the photos and video on this page may serve at any time as touchstones for meditation on her inspiring life.
For those who are curious, the contents of the picture include the urn with Ina’s ashes (the first time we have shown this publicly), a small painting Ina did of the steps at Montmartre in 1954 (see the Biography), a portrait of Ina taken on the Ruby Princess in 2011, a set of brass candlesticks that is a family heirloom handed down from Ina’s grandmother, and a red anthurium with beautiful heart-shaped leaves. The background music is from the 3rd movement of Alexander Borodin’s String Quartet #2, probably Ina’s favorite piece of classical music.
Below is an earlier idea for the memorial, with one of Ina’s seahorse motifs and her amazing still life.
